Don took an early interest in photography and now has over 40 years of experience in making great pictures. What began as a self-taught hobby has evolved into a lifelong passion that brings immense enjoyment.
Other early interests were art and technical drawing, which lead him to a formal education in architecture. He then spent more than ten years working as an architect in Minnesota, while continuing to improve his photography on a personal level.
In 1988 he decided to combine both interests into a single pursuit by becoming a professional photographer working exclusively in the realm of architecture. His design background contributes to his sense of aesthetics and heightens his sensitivity to the design concepts of his clients, some of whom are among today's premier architects. He has continued to hone his photographic skills by studying under many acknowledged masters of architectural photography including the legendary Julius Shulman.
The digital revolution has opened the door to totally new technical and artistic possibilities in imaging. It demands continual study and practice to stay ahead of the curve. Don has dedicated himself to this new line of study, and draws fresh inspiration from each turn in the road.
